1. What is your experience from collaborating in the IZONE in aspects of Knowledge-sharing and English learning?

Critical view: Collaboration - working together in an intersection of common goals – I have uncertain feelings about the „working together“ in iZone. Project posts slowed down any communication and made me wait sometimes for weeks for an answer. I've been enabled to share my knowledge but an interest of colleagues to discuss issues, related to the topics published, was very low. Discussions, if any, lost dynamics very quickly. An unclear goal and rules of the language use, and contextless compulsion to accept communication in English, even in discussions where the subject itself is complex enough, brings low quality content, very little value as an outcome of a discussion and decrease of motivation of the broad user audience to attend such discussions. Is this site multilingual? I miss feedback a lot - I miss results or conclusions on Portal Training events, I miss feedback on blog, I miss feedback in discussions led via comments. There has been one comment made on iZone Strategy. Is this an extent of an internal discussion that we need to streamline our effort?

Constructive view: We need to support internal discussions, but we need goal-oriented discussions and a role of moderator would be helpful here to keep people on track and no to let discussions end without any conclusion. English zone could be set up to enable anyone to train communication and composition. Compilation of the best content there should be published and represent NTG publicly. MyZone should list all the content streams that one didn’t provide feedback on and enable moderator to provoke members to provide their feedback in informal way.

2. Which innovation Idea posted (yours or others) you consider as the most relevant one and why?

Idea: Register of NTG skills, products and technologies.

 Because to build healthy operations and ambitious goals is possible only if we are aware of what are our capacities and competencies. Such registers would provide a precious raw material to build new innovative ways to achieve our objectives easier, faster, cheaper and more reliable.

3. Your suggestions to improve IZONE functionality and/or rules of collaboration?

I suggest simplifying of iZone's UI as much as possible to get easy basic workflow of the innovation process. If contributions to an idea are just a "Hyde Park", I suggest we can use comments, for this type of communication so the content will be accessible directly with the idea in evaluation or the other way round – enable users to see contribution ever after. I suggest focusing on small innovations (maybe workarounds) achievable with very little effort within very short time, but keeping the life of iZone going – to learn quicker with visible outcomes. Let's get quick wins to start up whole lifecycle and to be able to keep it going and grow.

I recommend to simplify innovation zone to known world-wide "standard" (using in many innovation forums, from my opinion for example in open-source Linux communities, ...).
Using these "standards" which have following funcionality:
1.) enter idea (name of idea/title, some description of idea, maybe possibility attach some file)
2.) other users can comment that idea and rate it (hot or not)
3.) ideas and their comments would be displayed as simply list of articles (name of idea, introduction text (or first three rows of text) and "read more" link, number of comments, date of creation, date of last comment and rating
4.) after closing idea (some days or weeks discussion is available for public auditorium) author of idea to evaluate interesting comments and can to add some new facts to idea.
5.) now idea is going to the "project concept" (or "project proposal") where would be added other important information (eg.estimated costs, approach, ...)
That's all.
In this moment idea (and "project concept/proposal") routes to company top management for approval. The idea becoms a project.

Nie je zreteľný dôvod prečo po vyhodnotení idei evaluatormi (idea evaluation report - záznam od každého z potrebných evaluatorov) je ešte potrebné vkladať stanovisko k výslednému reportu, ktorý je umiestnený na (http://izone.novitech.sk/Lists/SUMeval/AllItems.aspx) ale táto stránka je niekde skrytá a nevedno ako sa dá k nej dostať. Na stránke (http://izone.novitech.sk/SitePages/SOLUTIONS.aspx) je po výbere idei, zobrazené (v strednej časti) "Evaluation Summary report". Sumárne vyhodnotenie sa má vkladať ako "Reply body" do mailu? Je to nezvyklé.

Pri zadávaní feedbacku (cez stránku http://izone.novitech.sk/SitePages/Feedback.aspx) by pomohlo na stránke umiestnené tlačítko [Add feedback], ktoré by smerovalo na formulár (http://izone.novitech.sk/Lists/Feedback/NewForm.aspx). Vo formulari na zadávanie feedback-u sú položky "Task group name" a "Category" na zmätenie nepriateľa. Užívateľ totiž netuší, čo do nich má napísať. Podobne načo je položka "Your e-mail"? Plánovali sme tomu, kto zadá feedback odpovedať? Ak mu neodpovedáme, je táto položka zbytočná (prihlásený užívateľ je aj tak identfikovateľný cez "Created by". Položku "Comment" som pochopil až po preskúmaní ostatných feedback-ov, že pravdepodobne slúži na komentovanie daného feedback-u inými užívateľmi. Vysveľujúci text "A summary of this resource" pod ňou tiež nevnáša veľa svetla.

Dosť nezrozumieľným a nelogickým sa javí postup pri evaluácii idei, ako sa dostať do formulára na evaluáciu idei: vybrať "Solutions" -> vybrať/selektnúť ideu v "Ideas" -> zaškrtnúť v title "Idea evaluation reports" -> klik na "New item" -> konečne dialóg na evaluaciu -> vybrať ideu -> ... Je skutočne detektívna práca

1. What is your experience from collaborating in the IZONE in aspects of Knowledge-sharing and English learning?

What concerns the knowledge sharing, I think we have a lot to improve. There are still domain areas which are kept private (I think not intentionally). Nobody cares to share, nobody cares to ask. Such as infrastructure maintenance, modelling methodology, Sharepoint development best practice, .. And what's the worst, it is valid for me as well, so I should start sharing my knowledge and findings by myself. The same applies for idea contributions.

What concerns improving my English - unfortunately there is nothing good to say :(

2. Which innovation Idea posted (yours or others) you consider as the most relevant one and why?

I don't think I can say what ideas are relevant, but the most valuable I found are

  • common gateway to portals - if implemented, it can become a crystallizing element for the very needed NTG Knowledge Base.
  • help desk - if successfully implemented, it can improve our own customer care processes, we can learn the SP technology on the project and the most important - it can become a product to offer and build on.
  • ibpm - the project could build a solid and complete solution framework for BPM/OSS solutions.

3. Your suggestions to improve IZONE functionality and/or rules of collaboration?

usability aspect - sometimes it takes "too many clicks" to fulfil a task or to navigate into relevant data. So sometimes to think about a design prior implementing would be appreciated. I know the iZONE portal is built-as-go, never-less as its complexity increases, we have to be careful not to create any mess we won't be able to clean up.

security aspect - finally there is a possibility to change my own password, but to use unencrypted connection for login, keep my password plain text, no DRP (or am I wrong?) and an unclear rights management is a little worrying and I'm loosing my confidence in the iZONE portal as a sustainable production environment.

content - I think iZONE portal needs more internal marketing, get all employees to use it actively. And if the project/task sites are part of the izone, then I would suggest to create manuals for PLs.
E.g.: for every project there must be a document library (or a view) for project related documents, specify how to evaluate task budgets, the meaning of the assigned budget, their responsibilities (deadlines) for accepting tasks,...

Proposed improvements:
- Maximum of 5 to 7 items in primary navigation menu (Top Link Bar).
- Maximum of 10 items in secondary navigation menu (Quick launch). For menus of more than 10 items, psychology research implies that users will have a harder time sifting through the information.
- Don’t repeat the full navigation on every page.


Suggestions for improvement:
- “Feedback” placed in the “Page Footer”,
- “NTG Projects” placed under “Projects”,
- “Solutions” placed under “Ideas”,
- “Results” placed under “Projects“ or “Ideas”,
- “Processes” placed under “Ideas” or “Home”

So, the following items remain in the primary menu: (1) Home, (2) Ideas, (3) Projects, (4) My Zone, (5) IZone Blog, (6) MasterClass

To page footer is also necessary to add Contact information, RSS Feeds, Copyright, Site Map, etc.

Toth: Projects (innovation in the pipeline) and NTG projects (approved and ongoing) are 2 different categories

- Myslím, že Top Link Bar je možné ľubovoľne modifikovať a je to nezávislé od subsitov (Site Actions -> Site Settings -> Top link bar).
- Áno, štandardné sekundárne menu (Quick launch) je definované pre subsite (preto sa opakuje na väčšine záložiek). To je možné vyriešiť nepoužitím Quick launch ale vytvorením vlastného Menu (SP Lists -> Links).
- IZONE zatiaľ vôbec nevyužíva Page Footer. Záložky HelpDesk, Services aj Feedbak by mohli byť umiestnené práve tam.

I will appreciate "personal" space (blog) on izone portal to collect own working content like drafts, links, ideas... Content can be later published/categorized to common blogs/knowledge base. It will help me to have such content on one place accessible via internet. Open question: Would it be allowed to set content as private?
skripecky: i agree with izone principle. everything would be accessible via search as you wrote or directly in personal space. with personal workspace i meant space, where are my contributions on one place, where i can work on drafts, store unsorted links. it is not private space. after consolidating idea/thought it is categorized within blogs/knowledge base structure - but from beginning it is accessible.
Toth: Marian, what you want this is exactly agains IZONE principle: No private but only common content accessible to everybody to share common knowledge. But by SP Search, if you want to see all your references on IZONE you can see them.

My suggestions for next version are in field comment.
 
Documents (Related item in NTG project DL): We can not create new folder/subfolders. We have many documents and putting documents into subfolders is necessary.

Lists ("Project summary tasks, APD.): Any list which appears in the title Task title, and in fact shows the NAME attribute and not the Task title.

It would be good to have a few reports on hand - letter by providers - we want to see each provider which tasks have on the project depends on its status.

When you first look at the list I do not know what my error in the bag. I have to climb into and so every check.

What do we expect from provider to claim on the task? Or is it only information for provider and system for project leaders?

Who will be set up an attribute of percentage on the task, provider or project leader?

We see all the tasks together (from different projects), it would be good to show them either according to priority, or at least by the projects. People do not know where did yesterday, last week, do not see what information are new, etc.

During the input of new task is necessary to offer only available of items (the project or task summary is known – I am in the projector in summary task, etc.)

If I look at the task lists I do not know if some tasks are incorrect. I must invoke each task and look into. It will be good to mark task which are uncorrected.

I think it will be very difficult to mobilize employees and partners to generate relevant innovation ideas. Everybody likes to work for a flat salary in a stable environment - not disturbed permanently by deverse changes in the business process.
 
This approach requires a strong Top management backing
